  • Dear Salonlife13, We are so sorry that your loss was not recognized. We know there is never perfection, but our desire as part of this body of Christ is to care for those who are hurting. I, as a member of this body, ask your forgiveness. I can be contacted. We want to be there for those who are hurting. Sincerely, Leane & Bart

I attended for more than 15years and my family made use of / volunteered with the men's, women's, and children's ministries. The church is trending in many of the wrong directions, and has some serious leadership issues, but contains sound teaching of Christian doctrine.

Notably positive from my POV are the following:
    1) Families with children that make use of traditional public school services are welcomed with an abundance of opportunities to be served with the various ministries set up. There are ministries for children, men, women, widow, VBS, sunday schools both services, and more.
    2) The teaching from the pulpit and in bible studies are substantive, Bible based, and rigorously researched.
    3) The facilities are well cared for and well appointed for their uses.

Notably negative from my POV are the following:
    1) The leadership is constructed of a self-electing board of Elders, which cannot be changed by the church's membership. This creates an echo-chamber feedback loop that repeats what it wants to hear, and has no dissenting voices or even opinions that differ from the existing opinions.
    2) The leadership & employees are starting to border on nepotism, with many people in some extended families being on the payroll in some fashion or other as pastors, employees, or elders that hire the pastors and employees. In small family run businesses this is expected, but in a mature (>30yr old) church this is troubling and has led many other large churches to heavy personality-based following and financial misappropriation. I hope this is not the case.
    3) They have trouble finding men / women to volunteer for their security team because as an unaccountable leadership team they affirmatively passed an anti-gun position paper in 2015, in secret, without consulting anyone that might offer differing opinions to their own opinions. The position paper isn't just a soft "please don't, but we know state law allows it" but is instead another vain attempt at creating a "gun free zone" with a complete abolition against any weapons of any kind (which they don't define). The stated goal being to not offend anyone that might be in attendance by anything that might or might not be tucked into another person's pants, purse, or jacket.
    4) The leadership team's reflexive rejection of new ideas means that volunteers seeking to serve the body must spend YEARS in leadership teams / committees before their suggestions for changes are given any merit or consideration. This is an unhealthy embrace of a leadership bureaucracy that stifles new opinions and exasperates those genuinely wanting to help with servant leadership.
    5) lastly, and possibly most unfortunate is the hostility to non-conforming stereotypes of suburban middle-class Christianity. If a newcomer has tattoos, smells of smoke, dresses in working type clothes, or other displays vestiges of a fallen world or a hard life, there are too many stories of unwelcoming comments directed towards them, or comments made in their vicinity. This has led to another feedback loop that reinforces the feeling that Cole is only for middle-class families with children in public school that don't have outward appearance of lives previously lived in sin.

  • This church is amazing! My mom works at Cole so I know many pastors and staff and they are all very sweet and easy to talk to. I'm also involved in the children's ministry and I love seeing the now 2 year old's playing and learning about God. I have made soo many friends here and I've known one of my best friends since i was four from this church.

  • I left a negative review months ago about this church. I was very upset at the time and angry about a sudden loss of a dear loved one. I'm really sorry for the negative review and tried to have it deleted. This church really is a good church and truly cares about the body of Christ and is full of loving people. They are always there, quick and ready to help others when a person needs it and encouraging others all the time. The Sunday school for my child is great too. I'm happy to have been going here for awhile now, like five years!
